It is required by the Province of Ontario to secure a License to Marry. This is available at City Hall.
The Wedding Ceremony
The solemnization of marriage is both a civil contract and a religious rite. The Minister has the responsibility for seeing that the requirements of the Province of Ontario are fulfilled and ensuring that the wedding service reflects the belief about love and inclusion that we profess in the United Church of Canada.
The wedding party is asked to arrive on time for the consideration of their guests and any other weddings booked for the day.
The Place of the Ceremony
We offer the use of the Church Sanctuary.
The Music for the Ceremony
Consultation with the pianist should take place regarding the music for the wedding service.
Anthony Alexander – Pianist (1-416-882-1967)
It is our wish that every wedding proceed with beauty and dignity. We, therefore, suggest that a rehearsal be held prior to the wedding. The date and time of the rehearsal can be scheduled at the time the wedding is booked, or at a later date.
Columbus Community United Church takes great pride in its picturesque church located just on the outskirts of Oshawa. It is without a doubt a beautiful choice for a wedding ceremony, with an updated sanctuary and seating for approximately 200 guests. The grounds are immaculate and available for use both before and after the ceremony for taking photographs. We do ask that you do not use confetti or rice but suggest bubbles as a fun, environmentally friendly alternative.
Although photography is encouraged, the taking of flash photography is not recommended during the actual ceremony. Your photographer will have ample opportunity for picture taking after the ceremony and as you leave the church after the wedding.
Video cameras are allowed, however the videographer should be prepared to meet with the Minister prior to the ceremony to discuss placement of equipment.
The wedding cost is $775
